Discrimination on application fees content
The Fair Housing Act is a federal law which protects tenants from discrimination against their race, color, national origin, religion/creed, sex/gender, presence of children, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, and military/veteran status.
In Tacoma, Tacoma Municipal Code (TMC) 1.29.100 “Unlawful discriminatory housing practices” also outlaws discriminatory rental practices.
This includes discriminatory advertising, refusal to rent, charging different prices, placing discriminatory terms or conditions on the rental contract and/or facilities, and other discriminatory actions because of the prospective tenant’s:
race
color
religion
sex
gender identity
sexual orientation
familial status
honorably discharged veteran or military status
marital status
age
national origin
source of income
disability
pregnancy outcomes
